I get some of my best ideas in the shower. The Women's Small Business Expo was one of those ideas. In fact, I often find myself blow-drying my hair quickly, so that I can run to the computer and research my new inspiration.
Here are some common ways to create your light bulb moments:
- While you're falling asleep at night
- While your dreaming
- When you wake up in the morning
- While you're meditating
- Exercising
- Commuting from one place to another
- Listening to music, radio or watching television
- While reading or surfing the Internet
- Brainstorming with other people
Remember that Abraham Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address on the back of an envelope while he was riding the train. Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse after he saw a mouse when he was on a train. Apparently trains are fertile places for great ideas.
Where do you get your business ideas?
Please let me know.

Shower definitely! I actually took a china marker and drilled a hole in it and put a string through it so I can jot down stuff on the tile! True Story!

After years of feeling imprisoned in an office as a Copywriter and Creative Director, I am relishing the freedom of developing my own business, Oh My Goddess from home. Well, actually, outside my home.
Everyday, I take what I call a "walking meditation" with my dog Lucky and paper and a pen. I have "written" most of the Oh My Goddess greeting cards, as well as the title and many poems for my book that way.
There's something about the fresh air, birds chirping and all the flowers blooming that open me up for inspiration.
