I am a firm believer that in order to be truly successful in any endeavor, you must be diverse and flexible. Those are two qualities many people lack.

Ken Kaufman

I especially agree with point #8. A new business needs to define its sales cycle and its message. A lot of sales are missed in the start-up phase as a new business owner stumbles through this process. A little planning could capture a lot more business at the beginning of the venture.

Shelee Loughmiller

I'm particularly struck by the wisdom of #5 - You can't do this alone. Recognizing good mentors and having the courage to ask them for help has been one of the best things I've done for my business and personal development. What continues to amaze me is that great mentors show up for the right reason, the right season and have been so generous with their time and advice. My thanks to Linda for making it possible for so many woman to be exposed to some of the best in the business!

If a home business guarantees income for life, with little or no investment and it's fully automated, which means no cold calling, no selling, then it should be the ultimate and best business to own. And you know what... all this is possible now in the intenet age. We have the tools to reach billions of people.

Dale Hinton

These are all excellent points. And it seems that many people use these as excuses as to why they can't start a business. Usually it's a matter of their belief in their own abilities to run the business venture. I like what Henry Ford said which so aptly relates to this, "whether you think you can or think you can't, you are exactly right."

Robert S. Nahas

This post can serve as an inspiration for those people who want to put up their own business! Oh, I have something to share about number 8. Apples don't fall on you 100% when you rest under an apple tree. Isaac Newton was just lucky. But you don't rely on luck when it comes to business. You must do everything to keep things up and running. Make a website, use search engine optimization techniques, and spread your links to potential customers. I've read in a blog that this is one of the best online marketing strategies today.

Anyway, I'll share these to my best buds in Jacksonville. I'm sure they'll find this very useful. Thank you so much for posting this!
